How do I format my news items?

News formatting is nicer than ever! Format your articles with additional design and embedding options.

Header image
A picture is worth a thousand words, that is why it is possible to add an image to the header of your news article. Do you not have any specific image you would like to add? No problem. Speakap will automatically add a standard image. That way news articles will always have a certain look and feel.

However, if you are not a fan of the default image, the network administrators are able to change it in the network settings. That way your news articles will correspond with your corporate design.

Rich Text
It allows you to create news articles that are visually more appealing and are easier to read, and make sure your message goes through.

How does it work?

Open your news editor in a browser, create a news article, and use the new elements as you need them. Please find the list of new options in bold.

  • Headings H1, H2, H3, H4, H5, H6
  • Fonts: Bold, Italic, Underline, Strikethrough
  • Text alignment (Left, Right, Centre, Justify)
  • Lists: Bulleted, numbered
  • Active links
  • Inline: files, images, videos
  • Embedded: URL, videos (coming soon)
  • Mentions (coming soon)
  • Up to 5 videos per News item
  • Copy / Pasting formatted text from Office documents

Concepts
No time to write and publish a news article in one session? No problem. Articles you did not publish will automatically be saved as concepts and thus can be finished at another moment.

How to use it?
It is enabled on Speakap for you - there is no need for any further change on your side. Some formatting features might be available only on the browser, but the design of the published articles will be consistent through all the platforms (browser, iOS, Android)

What happens to the articles posted earlier?
They will be displayed as before, the new features are backward-compatible. If you wish, you can edit them using the new features, however.
