Speakap as Identity Provider

Summary: This guide is for IT administrators who want their network to act as a SAML Identity Provider (IdP) for third-party applications. With this setup, employees who are logged in to Speakap can open connected external applications from the navigation menu without logging in again.

How it works

To let employees automatically log into external applications, Speakap can act as your central identity provider. Users access connected integrations directly from the navigation menu in their Speakap network, without entering separate credentials for each application.

Requesting an integration

If you want to integrate a new third-party application with your network, your development team needs to coordinate with our technical team first.

Have your developers send a configuration request to technicalimplementations@speakap.nl. The email must include the technical details listed below.

Technical details checklist

Your development team needs to supply the following for the application:

  • Entity ID: the unique URI identifier for your application.
  • Reply URL: the service provider endpoint where the SAML token response is delivered.
  • Relay State: the target routing state parameter, if relevant to your setup.
  • Signing algorithm: Speakap uses sha256 by default; both sha1 and sha256 are supported.
  • Name ID format: the identifier used for account mapping (such as a user's email address or network username).

What happens next: once we receive these details, Speakap sets up the application on your network. We then generate and share a unique metadata URL with your development team so they can finish the configuration on their side.

Important limitation

This integration only supports IdP-initiated login flows.

  • What works: users can log into Speakap and move straight into the third-party application via the navigation menu.
  • What is not supported: users cannot log into Speakap starting from the third-party application's own login page.

Still stuck?

Email us at technicalimplementations@speakap.nl with your network name, the application you want to connect, and the technical details from the checklist above, and we'll help you out.
