Why use the News web part
Different teams have different digital routines. For colleagues who spend their day in SharePoint, engagement with Speakap can sometimes be lower. The Speakap News web part bridges that gap: it shows the latest news items from your Speakap network directly on your SharePoint pages.
Installing the News web part
Everything happens inside SharePoint. There is nothing to configure on the Speakap side; you only need to embed the correct URL.
- Log in to your SharePoint environment and go to the page where you want to add the news items.
- Create a new web part. You must choose the Embed web part type. The news items will not work correctly with other web part types.
- When SharePoint asks for the Website address or embed code, paste this iFrame code:
<iframe src="https://YOURNETWORKNAME.speakap.com/snippets/news" width="100%" height="790px" frameBorder="0" style="border: 0;"></iframe>
- Important: Replace YOURNETWORKNAME in the code above with the actual domain prefix of your Speakap network.
- Save and publish the SharePoint page.
Using the web part
Once the web part is installed, people see their personalized Speakap news directly on the SharePoint page.
- Authentication: To see news items, people must be signed in to their Speakap account.
- Single Sign-On (SSO): If your organization uses SSO for Speakap, people are logged in automatically.
- Manual login: If SSO is not enabled, people see a one-time Speakap login screen inside the web part. They sign in with their normal Speakap email address and password.
