When push notifications are not working

If you are not receiving any push notifications on your phone, we ask you to check the following:

  1. Have you enabled push notifications for the app in your phone settings?
    Please make sure that you allowed Speakap to send push notifications when you installed the app. If you happened to have missed this step, you can easily adjust the settings on your phone. Occasionally, these settings might get changed or restricted, which can impact how notifications are delivered.  
    Specific Android information on setting notifications     

    1. 'Long press' on the app icon of Speakap.
    2. Choose App info (or press '!').
    3. Select Notifications.
    4. Choose Notification Categories.

    For each notification category, you can allow Notifications or toggle 'Show as pop-up'. For example: Set these to be off for General notifications and on for Private messages. This way, you won't receive push notifications for updates/news but you will receive them for private messages (chat).

  2. Are push notifications enabled in the app itself?
    You might want to check if push notifications are turned off within the app. Here’s how you can do that:
    a. Open the app menu and select Settings;
    b. Tap on Notifications;
    c. Choose the push notifications you’d like to receive.
    Sometimes, turning these settings off and then back on can help refresh the notification system.

  3. Is "Do Not Disturb" off in the app?
    Speakap has a "Do Not Disturb" (DND) feature, which, when enabled, can prevent notifications from reaching you during specified times. Check whether DND is enabled within the Speakap app. If it is, notifications may be temporarily suppressed. Consider adjusting the DND settings if needed.

  4. Is "Do Not Disturb" off on your phone?

    Please check if your Apple or Android device is in "Do Not Disturb" mode. If it is, that might be the reason you are not receiving notifications from the Speakap app.

  5. Is Speakap closed on your desktop?

    Please check if you were using the Speakap app at the time the notification was expected. Remember, push notifications will only show up if the app is closed. If you had the app open on your desktop, you won’t receive the push notification

  6. Are you using the newest version of the Speakap app?
    Having the latest version of our app installed not only ensures you have access to the newest features and moest up-to-date security enhancements, but also the best performance. Please make sure you are using the newest version of the app by checking the App Store or Google Play Store and if needed, update the app and try again.

Still having trouble receiving push notifications? Please try removing and re-install the Speakap app.
