Article summary: The Speakap Home experience has been transformed with the introduction of the Feed (formerly known as the Timeline). This guide covers the intuitive new layout, enhanced post creation tools, and powerful filtering options available on both desktop and mobile platforms.
1. Welcome to the New Feed
The former Timeline has been rebranded as the Feed, offering a fresh, intuitive experience designed for better content discovery and engagement. While the Feed features a modern look, the News section currently retains its original design during this transition phase.
2. Desktop Experience
The Feed remains the heart of your desktop experience, displaying updates, polls, news, and events from your colleagues and teams.
- Branded Banners: A new prominent banner at the top of the Feed provides a modern look and can be customized by administrators to match company branding.
- Post Composer: Located at the bottom of the banner, on top of the feed, the composer is your hub for sharing text, images, links, videos, GIFS or files, creating polls and mentioning other people.
- Audience Selection: When posting, you can use the new accordion picker to easily select specific Business Units or Groups as your target audience. Note: what you can select depends on your permissions in the platform.
3. Mobile Experience (Android and iOS)
The Android and iOS apps feature a redesigned bottom navigation bar to improve usability and accessibility.
- Top Navigation Bar: This bar provides quick access to Global Search (magnifying glass icon), the Post Composer (+ icon), and Filtering options.
- Redesigned Bottom Bar: Easily navigate between key features:
- Feed: Return to main updates.
- Messages: Direct chat with colleagues.
- News: Access key announcements.
- Alerts: View notifications.
- Main Menu: Access settings and additional features.
4. Filtering and Sorting
All platforms feature a filter bar to help you find the most relevant content quickly.
- Sorting Logic: Tap the circular icon (three stacked lines) to sort by:
- Activity First: Most engaged posts appear at the top. Note: posts that are commented on while older than 18 hours ‘bubble’ up to the top.
- Newest First: Standard chronological time of publishing order.
- Content Filters: Filter your view to show only specific types of content, including All Posts, News, Updates, Events, or Polls.
5. Powerful Search
The refreshed search tool allows you to find content types, people, and groups across the entire platform.
Pro Tip: Even if you have active filters applied to your Feed, the Search tool will continue to look across the entire platform to ensure you don't miss any relevant results.
