Summary:
The Celebrations widget is your team’s digital hub for personal milestones. Whether it’s a birthday, a work anniversary, or welcoming a brand-new colleague, this widget ensures you never miss a chance to connect and celebrate with your coworkers.
1. What is the Celebrations widget?
The Celebrations widget sits right next to your main Feed on the web, keeping you up to date on three specific types of milestones:
- Birthdays: See which colleagues are celebrating their special day.
- Anniversaries: Celebrate the "work-versaries" of teammates who have been with the company for a year or more.
- New Hires: Give a warm welcome to the newest members who joined the team this year.
How to view milestones:
The widget shows the top 6 upcoming events across each category. You can scroll through each tab to see up to 20 total items, starting from today.
Leap Year Note: If a colleague was born on February 29th, the widget will automatically show their birthday on March 1st during non-leap years so they are always included in the festivities.
2. Seeing the big picture (View More)
If you want to look further ahead or see who you might have missed over the last few days, you can open a full-screen view of each category.
- Click View More at the bottom of any tab in the widget.
- The expanded page will show you:
- The Past: Events from the last 7 days.
- Today: All of today's current celebrations.
- The Future: Milestones coming up in the next 60 days.
3. Admin Setup & Configuration
Note to Admins: This feature is currently available behind a feature flag and only on the Web. If you do not see these options in your settings, please contact your Customer Success Manager.
To provide this experience to your users, follow these steps in your desktop browser:
- Go to Network Settings > Appearance > Widgets.
- Locate Celebrations and toggle it to Enabled.
- Prevent Duplicates: Once Celebrations is on, you must toggle the original Birthdays widget to Disabled. This ensures users don't see two similar modules on their Feed.
- Mobile Settings: Do not disable the "Birthdays" Menu item in the Appearance settings. The mobile app requires this menu item to be active to display milestone data to frontline workers.
