Summary: Posted an Update that needs a quick change? As the author, you stay in control of your content. This guide covers how to edit or delete an Update, where to find the locking option, and how to manage notifications for your post.
Editing an Update
Spotted a typo or want to change your text after publishing? Updates can be edited instantly on desktop and mobile:
- Find your post on the Feed.
- Click or tap the three-dot options menu (...) in the top right corner of the post.
- Select Edit.
- Make your text or media changes in the composer and save.
Note: administrators cannot edit an Update posted by someone else.
Changing who sees an Update
As the author, you can add or remove recipients from an Update after it has already been published:
- Find your post on the Feed.
- Click or tap the three-dot options menu (...) in the top right corner of the post.
- Select Edit.
- Open the audience selector and add or remove recipients as needed.
Save your changes.
This works the same way whether the Update currently has one recipient or several. Note: administrators cannot change the recipients of an Update posted by someone else.
Deleting an Update
If an announcement is no longer relevant or was posted too early, you can remove it via the same menu:
- Open the three-dot options menu (...) in the top right corner of the post.
- Select Delete.
- Confirm in the warning window.
Deleting an Update is permanent. Once you confirm, the content, attached files, and all comments and reactions are removed entirely. It cannot be recovered by you, your network administrators, or Speakap support.
Note: administrators can delete an Update posted by someone else.
Locking an Update
You can lock an Update so it stays visible on the Feed while new comments and reactions are closed off. For how locking works and who can do it, see Locking a post.
Notification settings
When managing your post, you decide how it alerts your colleagues. From the Update panel you can publish your changes silently, or use the notification settings to control whether users receive push notifications and emails about your post.
