Summary: The Feed is the home of Speakap: it shows the updates, polls, news, and events from your colleagues and teams. This guide covers the layout, post creation tools, and filtering options on both desktop and mobile.
The Feed
The Feed is your main content stream, designed for easy content discovery and engagement. The News section currently retains its original design.
Desktop experience
The Feed is the heart of your desktop experience, displaying updates, polls, news, and events from your colleagues and teams.
- Branded banner: A prominent banner at the top of the Feed can be customized by administrators to match company branding.
- Post composer: Located at the bottom of the banner, on top of the Feed. This is your hub for sharing text, images, links, videos, GIFs, or files, creating polls, and mentioning other people.
- Audience selection: When posting, use the accordion picker to select specific Business Units or Groups as your target audience. Note: what you can select depends on your permissions in the platform.
Mobile experience (Android and iOS)
The Android and iOS apps use a bottom navigation bar built for usability and accessibility.
- Top navigation bar: Quick access to Global Search (magnifying glass icon), the Post Composer (+ icon), and filtering options.
- Bottom bar: Navigate between key features:
- Feed: Return to the main updates.
- Messages: Direct chat with colleagues.
- News: Access key announcements.
- Alerts: View notifications.
- Main Menu: Access settings and additional features.
Filtering and sorting
All platforms have a filter bar to help you find the most relevant content quickly.
- Sorting: Click or tap the sort icon (two arrows) to the left of the post filters at the top of the Feed. This opens Sort posts by with two options:
- Activity: The most engaged posts appear at the top. Note: posts that are commented on while older than 18 hours "bubble" up to the top.
- Newest first (the default): standard chronological order by time of publishing.
- Content filters: Show only specific types of content: All posts, News, Updates, Events, or Polls.
Search
The search tool lets you find content, people, and groups across the entire platform.
Pro tip: Even if you have active filters applied to your Feed, Search will still look across the entire platform, so you don't miss any relevant results.
