Summary: Sharing your opinion in a poll is a quick and easy way to make your voice heard. This guide explains how to cast, change, or retract your vote, and how to engage with polls in your Feed.
1. How polls work
Whether it's deciding the next team event's theme or contributing to an important company decision, your vote helps shape the outcome and makes sure everyone's input matters.
- Anonymity: Answering a standard poll is completely anonymous.
- Instant results: You see the percentage breakdown for each answer immediately after you cast your vote.
- Direct linking (desktop): To open a poll on its own dedicated screen, click the date/timestamp just under the author's name. Once opened, you can share a direct link by copying the URL from your browser's address bar.
2. Casting your vote
To cast your vote, simply click or tap your preferred answer. Once you have voted, the poll switches to a results view showing the current standings.
Note: It is not possible to vote on a poll that has already reached its end date.
3. Changing or retracting your vote
Nothing is set in stone while a poll is still running. You have full control over your submission until the poll officially closes.
- Changing your vote: If you change your mind, simply click the new answer you would like to pick. Your vote automatically moves from your original answer to the new one.
- Retracting your vote: Sometimes you want to remove your participation from a poll entirely. To do so, open the poll's options menu and select Retract vote.
Important: Once a poll has ended, you can no longer change or retract your vote.
4. Comments and reactions
Like any other post on Speakap, you can engage with a poll through comments and reactions to share additional thoughts or ask questions, if these are enabled by the publisher or administrator.
- Reactions: Click the thumbs-up icon to leave a like, or hover over it (long-press on mobile) to select a different emoji.
- Comments: Click into the comment section to leave your feedback and join the conversation.
Note: If you do not see the option to comment or react, the author of the poll has intentionally disabled these features for that specific post.
