Summary: Sometimes a published news item needs a quick update, or should be retracted entirely. This guide explains how to edit or delete your news articles on both desktop and mobile, and how to manage settings like comments and notifications after publication.
1. How to edit or remove a news item
Whether you are working from a computer or your smartphone, the process is exactly the same:
- Open the news article you want to change.
- Click or tap the three dots icon in the top right-hand corner of the news cover image.
- Choose your action from the dropdown menu:
- Edit news item: Make changes to the text, layout, or media.
- Remove news item: Completely delete the article from your network.
Important cross-platform limitation: You can edit a news item from the mobile app even if it was originally published from the desktop web platform. However, you may lose your rich text formatting. If you want to keep the formatting untouched, return to the desktop browser to make any text changes.
2. Modifying your publication options
When you open the editing panel of a news item, you can also change how your audience interacts with the post after the fact:
- Toggle engagement: Disable (or enable) comments and reactions on the article to close or open up the discussion.
- Edit silently: Turn off notifications for this specific news item for everyone in the target audience. This lets you fix typos or update details silently, without sending repeated push alerts or emails to your colleagues.
Note: Editing and removing news items is always based on permissions. If you don't see these options, see Why Can't I Post a News Item.
