Summary: The Journey step editor comes with a rich text toolbar for building engaging onboarding and training content. This guide starts with what the editor cannot do (copy-paste limitations), then walks through the formatting and media options.
Copy-paste limitations: read this first
Pasting pre-formatted text into the Journey editor only keeps its formatting from certain sources:
- Works: Copying formatted text from Microsoft Office and Google Drive documents keeps the formatting intact.
- Doesn't work: Copying formatted text from regular web pages or other third-party apps does not keep the formatting.
Tip: Copy the text from a website, paste it into Word, then copy it from Word into Speakap. The formatting stays intact.
Text styling
When you add a new step to a Journey, the formatting toolbar in the step editor gives you:
- Headings: Switch text blocks between normal paragraph formatting and heading levels H1 through H6.
- Emphasis: Bold, italics, and underline.
- Strikethrough: Handy for showing outdated policies or workflow changes.
Media and links
The same toolbar lets you enrich your steps:
- Images: Insert images into your step, including by copying and pasting graphics directly into the editor.
- Videos: Embed instruction videos directly on the page.
- Attachments: Upload files as downloadable reference material alongside your lessons.
- Hyperlinks: Add clickable links to external platforms or other web resources.
