How to Create a Journey

Summary: Journeys let you build structured onboarding, training, or change management paths for your employees. This guide explains how to create a Journey manually or with AI, add content steps, target the right audience, and launch.

Before you start: Journeys can only be created, edited, and launched from a desktop web browser. Creating them is restricted to Network Administrators, Group Administrators, and users who have been given Journey management permissions.

1. Start a new Journey

  1. In the left-side main menu, click Journeys, then open the Admin tab.
  2. Click the + New Journey button.
  3. Choose how you want to build it: By myself (manual setup) or With AI.

Option A: Generating content with AI

Prefer an automated draft? Select the AI option and fill in the prompt screen:

  • Select the type of Journey.
  • Define who it is for.
  • Describe the kind and name of organization you work in.
  • Choose the total number of steps.
  • Pick your target language.

After you submit, you're redirected to a draft view. AI generation takes roughly 2 to 5 minutes, so be patient and refresh your page after a few minutes to see the completed text.

Important: Proofread all AI-generated copy thoroughly. AI Journeys start as a draft, so you still need to set your audience and launch the Journey yourself when it's ready.

Option B: Creating manually (By myself)

Building from scratch takes you straight to the creation page, where you set the visual basics:

  • Upload a custom cover photo.
  • Pick a Journey color.
  • Fill in a descriptive Journey title.

2. Add steps and content

With the framework in place, you can start filling your Journey:

  • Pages: Click + Add Page to create an informational step. This opens a rich text editor where you can format text with the floating toolbar and add inline images, videos, or file attachments.
  • Quizzes: Click + Add Question to test your participants' understanding with a quiz step.
  • Moving between steps: When you finish a step, click the back button next to the step's title in the right-hand corner to return to the main view and add your next step.

Automatic saving: There is no save button. Everything saves automatically as long as you use the built-in back button to leave a page editor. Every step needs a title and body content before you can launch.

3. Choose your target audience

Three independent dropdown menus define exactly who receives the Journey:

DropdownOptionsWhat it does
1. Enrollment timeNew members; Existing members; New & existing membersNew members enrolls people the moment they join the target group. Existing members enrolls only people already in the group at launch. New & existing members enrolls both.
2. Target unitsEntire network; specific Business Units and/or Departments; specific GroupsThe standard audience picker for pinpointing parts of your organization.
3. User statusInternal users only; Internal & external usersInternal only leaves external guest profiles out of the selected groups. Internal & external enrolls every active profile that matches.

4. Preview and launch

Happy with your titles, media, and audience? Click the big Launch button in the top right corner of the page. Depending on how many large videos or high-resolution images your steps contain, processing can take a few minutes before the Journey goes live.

How to preview your Journey first: There is no dedicated preview button. If you want to check the participant experience before rolling it out, create a temporary private group with only yourself in it, set the Journey's target audience to that test group, and launch it to yourself. Once you've checked the layout, edit the target audience again and add your real groups.
