Summary: Group conversations name themselves based on the participants included. To keep your active chats organized, you can give a multi-user thread a custom title. This guide shows the steps on desktop and in the iOS and Android apps.
On desktop
To rename a group chat, log in via a desktop web browser and follow these steps:
- Click Private Messages in the top-right navigation banner (message icon).
- Select the group conversation you would like to rename from your chat list.
- Click the Details button in the chat header.
- Select the edit title icon next to the current group chat title. A text input field appears where the current title is.
- Type the new name for your group conversation.
- Press Save to save the updated title.
In the iOS and Android apps
To rename a group chat in the mobile app, follow these steps:
- Tap Private Messages in the bottom navigation banner (message icon).
- Select the group conversation you would like to rename from your chat list.
- Tap the name on top in the header.
- Select the text on the right of the Name field in the middle of the screen. The keyboard appears automatically.
- Type the new name for your group conversation.
- Tap the checkmark to save the updated title, or X to cancel.
