Storage and the Fair Use Policy

Summary: This article explains how storage works on Speakap. Your network runs under a Fair Use Policy, so there is no fixed storage cap to manage. It also covers how the mobile app protects your employees' data plans and device storage.

1. Fair Use Policy for storage

Speakap provides network storage under a Fair Use Policy (FUP). Your storage is not capped at a specific number, so your organization can upload and share content freely. As long as your network's storage use is reasonable and in line with normal operational needs, there are no strict limits to worry about.

2. Optimized for frontline workers' devices

Speakap is built for frontline workers, so the app is careful with data and local storage. To protect bandwidth and save space on a worker's personal device and mobile data plan:

  • No auto-play: Videos do not play automatically in the Feed, so they never eat mobile data unexpectedly.
  • No auto-downloads: Photos, files, and attachments are not saved to the user's camera roll or device automatically. They stay in the cloud until the user chooses to download them.

3. Can I see how much storage we are using?

There is no storage usage dashboard or tracking feature in the platform. The good news: you do not need one.

  • Your storage is fully covered by the Fair Use Policy.
  • No hard limits apply unless usage becomes so excessive that it affects overall platform performance.
  • Because of this flexible approach, Network Administrators do not need to monitor or manage storage at all.
