Branding assets for desktop

Summary: This guide lists all the visual assets you need to customize your Speakap desktop experience, with the exact sizes and formats for each. Configure these in the Appearance settings to keep your brand identity consistent across the web platform.

These are configured in Network settings > Appearance > Branding.

1. General branding assets

These core assets identify your network across browser tabs, headers, and login screens.

  • Network avatar: This avatar appears on login, registration, and community screens, making it easier to identify your network in a list.
  • Dimensions: Minimum 250 x 250 pixels.
  • Aspect ratio: 1:1 (square or near-square).
  • Favicon: The small icon (short for "favorite icon") used by web browsers to identify your domain in tabs and bookmarks.
  • Format: Must be uploaded as a PNG.
  • Dimensions: 512 x 512 pixels.
  • Network logo: This logo is displayed prominently in the top header of the platform.
  • Dimensions: Minimum 120px (width) x 32px (height).
  • Aspect ratio: The ideal ratio is 15:4. Keep the proportions intact to avoid distortion.

2. Colors and theme settings

Your brand colors define the look of buttons, links, and the platform header.

  • Primary color: Applied to various interface elements such as buttons and borders. Different shades of this color are automatically applied to maintain UI depth.
  • Secondary color: Used exclusively for the top header background.
  • Tertiary color: Used for hyperlinks, Mentions, and certain secondary button states.

3. Login backgrounds

The login background is the first thing users see. A high-quality image here sets the tone for your company culture.

  • Specifications:
  • Recommended resolution: 1440 x 900 pixels.
  • Aspect ratio: 16:10.
  • Management: You can upload up to four different background images. If you upload multiple images, they are used to provide a varied experience. You can also click Reset to system defaults at any time to return to the standard Speakap imagery.

4. Banners and cover photos

Banners give visual context to different sections, while cover photos provide a default look for pages without their own image.

Banners:

  • Feed (Timeline) and News banners: These appear at the top of the main Feed and the News archive.
  • Dimensions: 1280 x 250 pixels.

Default covers:

  • Specifications: Recommended resolution of 1200 x 400 pixels.
  • Usage:
  • Group pages: Default for group headers (group admins can override this).
  • Profile pages: Default for employee profiles (users can override this).
  • News items: Default for articles without a specific header image.
  • Events: Default for event pages (organizers can override this).

5. Preview and assigning themes

Before finalizing your design, Speakap gives you tools to check your work and target the right audience.

  • Preview: The Preview tab shows a mock-up of the desktop Feed, so you can see how your colors, logo, and banners look together.
  • Assign theme: This theme is set as the default for the network. You can also assign specific themes to different business units. Business units without a custom theme automatically inherit the network's default theme. Read more in Customizing Network Appearance Using Themes.
