All videos uploaded to Speakap go through a so-called transcoding pipeline. This way we have full control over the final video (and audio) quality before files are made available to the users of your network. At the same time, this allows us to deliver several alternative encodings, in lower quality, that might be more suitable for low-end devices, or devices operating on low-bandwidth or with degraded connectivity.
All video is (re)encoded to MPEG H.264 with AAC audio and will be streamed 1-to-1 by one of our video streaming servers.

Please note that the availability of alternative encodings depends on the quality of the original:
As this table shows you, to be the most flexible and offer your users the full range of available qualities, the original video bitrate should be at least 3000 bits/second, with a vertical dimension greater than or equal to 720 pixels (e.g. Full HD video).
Please understand that rendering several encodings takes quite a bit of processing time. The total duration depends on the file size and quality of the original; the number of videos ahead of yours, as well as the number of videos that are being processed simultaneously.
In order to make sure you are getting the best experience, we are giving the processing priority to the videos with 720p, 480p and 240p respectively.
Upon the completion of the processing for 720p, you will be notified automatically by receiving an alert.
Full HD or 4K videos? Unfortunately, 720p is the highest quality video supported by Speakap. If a high-quality video is still needed, we recommend uploading the video on youtube or Vimeo. By copying and pasting the youtube or Vimeo URL, Speakap will automatically render the video and play it in the application with the desired quality.
