I cannot log in to Speakap

Summary: Whenever you find yourself unable to log in to your Speakap network, use this troubleshooting checklist to regain access to your account. It covers the most common login issues, including account activation, verifying your credentials, resetting your password, and browser or device problems.

1. Have you activated your account?

Before you are able to log in for the first time, you must activate your account.

  • You should have received an invitation by email or SMS containing a "Join now" button.
  • Clicking this button will redirect you to the activation page where you can set up your account.
  • If you don't see the invite, check your Spam or Junk folders. You must click the link in that invitation to activate your account before attempting to sign in.
  • If you have not received this invitation at all, please see I haven't received an email invitation for Speakap.

Tip: if you run into a problem while trying to activate your account, try using an incognito or private browser tab to complete the process.

2. Are you using the correct username or email address?

Entering your exact username or email address is essential for accessing your account. This identifier also determines whether you should use the standard login screen or if the system needs to automatically redirect you to your company's custom Single Sign-On (SSO) environment.

  • Check with HR/IT: we highly suggest reaching out to your company's HR or IT department to verify the exact email address they have on file for you. It frequently happens that the email address you use on a daily basis (an alias) is slightly different from the official master address your HR team registered in the system.
  • Recent role changes: has your job title, role, or department recently changed? Sometimes, when an HR team updates your information, it can cause a temporary synchronization error with Speakap. Ask your HR team or direct manager to confirm your details are correctly entered in the source system.
  • Confirm with Support: if you cannot reach your internal HR team, feel free to get in touch with our Support team via support@speakap.com to confirm your account credentials. Be sure to clearly state your full name and the company you work for within your message.

3. Are you entering the right password?

If you have successfully activated your account and are using the correct email address but your password is still not being accepted, you will need to trigger a reset.

  • Case sensitivity: passwords are strictly case-sensitive. Double-check your Caps Lock key before proceeding.
  • Self-service reset: you can request a password reset link directly from the main login page by clicking the "Forgot password" button and entering your primary email address. Note: Forgot password may not be visible when SSO is being used.

4. Check your device and browser

If your account is active and your credentials are correct, the issue may be related to the device or browser you are using.

  • Check system compatibility: review the full list of supported desktop browsers and mobile operating systems here: Which operating systems does Speakap support?
  • Mobile app workaround: if your phone's operating system is no longer supported by the Speakap application, you can still access your network. Simply open your mobile web browser and navigate directly to login.speakap.com.
  • SSO and the server error: if your company uses SSO and you see the exact error "Problem communicating with the server", your browser is most likely blocking third-party cookies. See Problem communicating with the server for the fix.
