Summary: Staying informed should not mean feeling overwhelmed. This guide shows you how to choose exactly which desktop, mobile and email notifications you receive, and how to use Do Not Disturb to protect your personal time.
For a full overview of how notifications work in Speakap, see Notifications: Overview and Settings.
On desktop (web browser)
You decide which events trigger a browser pop-up or an email:
- Click your avatar in the upper right corner of the screen.
- Click the gear wheel (Settings), then Personal Settings.
- Select Notifications in the menu on the left.
- Check or uncheck the email and desktop notifications you want to receive.
On mobile (iOS and Android apps)
Managing things on the go? Adjust your notifications right in the app:
- Tap the menu icon (three horizontal lines) in the lower right corner of the app.
- Tap the gear wheel icon in the upper right corner.
- Tap Notifications.
- Switch the individual toggles on or off to match how you like to work.
Tip: want to silence one busy group instead of changing everything? See Customizing Group and Department Notification Settings.
Do Not Disturb
Want quiet outside your shift hours, or no pings during a focused meeting? Set Do Not Disturb to silence incoming notifications. You can turn it on in two places on desktop:
- Quick toggle: click your avatar in the upper right corner and click the bell icon next to your name to switch Do Not Disturb on or off.
- Scheduled: go to Personal Settings > Notifications > Do not disturb. Here you can turn on Do Not Disturb right away, or set Scheduled Do not disturb with a daily start and end time (for example 6:00 PM to 9:00 AM) so it switches on and off automatically.
Good to know: push notifications silenced during a Do Not Disturb window are dropped, not queued. You will not return to a flooded lock screen, and the missed notifications will not arrive later. You can always catch up inside the app itself.
Still stuck?
If you changed your settings but notifications still do not behave as expected, walk through Troubleshooting: When Push Notifications Are Not Working, or email us at support@speakap.com with your network name and a screenshot of your notification settings, and we'll help you out.
