Summary: A video instruction, a few step-by-step pictures, or a reference file can make a task much clearer for the person doing the work. This guide shows how to attach media to your tasks and explains the attachment limit that is specific to Tasks.
1. How to add attachments to a task
You can upload supporting files directly inside the task creation window.
- On desktop: find the three media icons at the bottom of the task creation window. Pick the right icon depending on whether you want to attach an image, a video, or a document.
- On mobile: besides choosing existing files from your device using the icons in the bottom action bar, you can also take a photo directly with your camera and upload it straight into the task.
2. Attachment limit in Tasks
Tasks have their own attachment limit, and it is lower than elsewhere on Speakap:
Maximum 35 combined attachments per task. The total of all photos, videos, and files in a single task cannot exceed 35 items.
This limit is specific to Tasks. Other content types on Speakap allow up to 100 combined attachments.
3. Supported formats and file sizes
These criteria are the same on desktop and mobile. Check that your files match before uploading:
| Type | Supported formats | Maximum file size |
| Images | JPEG, JPG, PNG, GIF | Up to 256MB per image |
| Videos | MP4, MPEG, MPG, WMV, AVI, MOV, WEBM | Up to 2GB per video |
| Files | PDF, XLS, DOC | Up to 256MB per file |
Unsupported formats: vector images (such as SVG) and web file types (such as HTML) are not supported as image uploads and will give an error.
For the general media and upload guidelines that apply across Speakap, see Guidelines for Uploading Media and Files.
