Summary: Creative freedom is essential when sharing company news. This guide explains what the News editor can and can't do with formatting: the limitations to know first, the desktop toolbar with headings and text styling, and how to safely copy and paste pre-formatted text.
1. Know the limitations first
- Formatting is desktop only: Rich text formatting is currently not possible in the mobile app. If you need full creative control over how your news content looks, create and edit the body text in a desktop web browser.
- Copy-pasting formatted text: Keeping the formatting from generic web pages or sources other than Microsoft Word or Google Drive documents is not yet supported. The workaround: if you copy text from a website, first paste it into Word, then copy and paste it from Word into Speakap.
2. Text formatting and headings (desktop)
To customize the look of your news article, open the News editor in a desktop web browser. The formatting toolbar lets you:
- Structure your layout with standard Paragraph text or hierarchical headings (H1 through H6).
- Style your text with bold, italics, underline, and strikethrough.
3. Adding media, links, and attachments
Beyond text formatting, the toolbar lets you insert images (or copy and paste them directly into the text), embed videos, upload downloadable attachments such as PDFs or spreadsheets, and add clickable hyperlinks.
