What's Included in Compass Basic (Free Version)

Summary: Compass Basic (free version) gives you a Homepage Dashboard with a clear overview of your network's health and engagement. This guide walks through every section of that dashboard: account activations, user activity, device usage, and the filters you can apply.

Dashboard overview and filtering options

The Compass Basic dashboard focuses on core metrics to help you understand how many users have activated their accounts, how active they are over time, and which devices they use to access the platform.

Before analyzing your data, you can refine the metrics displayed at the top of the screen using two controls:

  • Audience filter: Toggle your view between data for the entire network or narrow it down to specific groups.
  • Timeframe filter: Select a tracking period: Yesterday, Last 7 days, Last 28 days, or Last 3 months.

Activation overview

This section answers a fundamental adoption question: how many users have activated their accounts? It summarizes your onboarding progress and invitations during your selected timeframe.

The metrics in this section:

  • Activation Rate: The overall percentage of invited users who have successfully activated their accounts.
  • Avg. Total Accounts: The average total number of accounts that have been sent an invitation.
  • Avg. Activated Accounts: The average number of unique users who accepted their invitation and registered.
  • Avg. Pending Accounts: The average number of users who have been invited but have yet to complete their activation.

User activity and trends

This section answers: how much is your network actually being used? It tracks user login behavior over time to help you evaluate regular platform adoption.

Core activity metrics

  • DAU (Daily Active Users): The average number of unique users logging into the platform per day.
  • DAU / TAU: The percentage of your total available user base (TAU) logging in daily.
  • MAU (Monthly Active Users): The total number of unique users who have logged in at least once over the past 30 days.
  • MAU / TAU: The percentage of your total available user base logging in at least once a month.

Activity trends graph

A line graph labeled Active Users Over Time charts user login patterns across your selected timeframe. This chart helps you quickly spot:

  • Peaks of engagement (for example matching company announcements or specific shifts).
  • Periods of low or no activity (for example weekends, holidays, or down periods).

Device usage and session insights

To help you optimize content formatting and support resources, this section breaks down user behavior per platform (Android, iOS, and Web).

Analytics metric What it tracks
Average Users The average number of active members using a specific device type.
Average Sessions The average number of times the platform was opened per device type.
Average Session Length The average duration of a single user session on that specific platform.

Tip: Understanding your workforce's device preferences helps you craft better communication. Shorter session lengths on iOS/Android suggest short, mobile-friendly updates, while longer web sessions are ideal for deep-dive News articles.
